There are 24 hours in a day, yet I always seem to run out of time. Does this sound like you? I’m not one who likes to waste time doing nothing but I’ve come to realise I’m wasting more time trying to do everything.
‘Busyness’ to me is wasting time ‘looking busy for the boss’ (if you work from home which I assume is why you’re here, then you are the boss!), and this doesn’t really achieve anything.
There are 5 main causes I’ve found that contribute to ‘busyness’ – Procrastination, failing to plan, lack of clear goals, overloading the day with too many tasks and a lack of focus…
Justin and I started our personal and financial journey a few years ago, when we realised we needed to take action in our lives. We have come a long, long way since then and most certainly have a long way to go, no doubt about it. We learnt from the top earners that the only way to develop and be successful is to read often and broadly. As Justin and I haven’t a burning desire to read piles of books we got hold of the wonderful invention of the audiobook which is just as good if not better, in our opinion .
It all started one day when we were driving home from a weekend away and our iPod went flat. There wasn’t much reception in the area so the radio was out, so we reluctantly put on Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad audiobook on CD that Justin’s Dad had been pushing us to listen to for about six months…
Just a quick-ish post before I hit the sack (getting late here in Oz) about Tribes – specifically to answer some questions Lynn and I have been getting from time to time about the results you can achieve as part of a blogging or syndication group.
Now I intended to go in-depth about the different aspects of Tribes on the web at some point down the track, including the overall benefits of group syndication and how to create a Tribe, accountability, masterminding, the idea of collaboration trumping competition, the Go-Giver mentality, how to create an effective Tribe page on your blog, and so on. But today I’ll just give a quick summary of what a few people have been asking for (and fair enough too) – the results…
As some of you may already know, I have taken up running. Justin, being a 1500m runner for the last 15 years, has been wanting me to give it a go since…well, I don’t know, probably when we first met! I’m getting better at it and enjoying it more and more, but I’ve learnt a few things along the way which I’ve found to have quite a resemblance to entrepreneurship and the way people go about their marketing and their business.
When I’m at the park going for my run I see a lot of different people doing a lot of different things, but in the end we’re all there to get some fresh air and some exercise. When you have a closer look, everyone has their own style – different gadgets, different routines, a different drive and so on. We’re all applying these techniques because we believe our method is best thing for us…
As many entrepreneurs have chosen both Facebook and Twitter as the foremost social tools for building their personal brands, a lot of them are constantly looking for the best way to integrate the two platforms to extend their reach.
When it comes to integrating Twitter with your Facebook Fan Page, the option of having your Twitter stream mixing in with yours and other’s wall posts and news feeds has become a bit of an annoyance.
The solution is to add a Twitter tab to your Fan Page’s menu, keeping it separate from your Facebook discussion and allowing your fans the option to access it rather than having it clog up your wall….
It seemed that some people knew that they were not making the most of their connections by kicking off a conversation or leaving a personal note with their new contacts, but they just weren’t taking action.
However, I now want to go a little further this time by talking about the importance of maintaining your relationships on Facebook.
Now that you’ve made some real friends and begun some genuine connections, you’ve probably started to realise that simply taking an extra minute or so to say “hi” and introduce yourself can often be the beginnings of valuable, lasting relationships – I mean that goes without saying, right?…
You’ll notice on our home page that we’ve got an image slider set up that directs readers to various posts and pages on our blog.
This is the Featured Content Gallery plug-in for WordPress, and in this post I’ll walk you through step-by-step how to set one up on your own blog if you haven’t already got something similar in place.
Now some WordPress themes come with a built-in gallery or image slider, but if you don’t have one on your blog it’s a reasonably easy process to get one up and running on your own – even if you aren’t tech savvy!
Take a look at the quick video tutorial that will take you through the steps in setting up the Featured Content Galley plug-in on the front page of your blog…
Many people will say that one of their biggest challenges in maintaining their blog is coming up with things to write about.
Most of us have been in this situation at some stage, but when you look around and get creative with your thinking there really is an endless stream of topics and ideas to get your teeth into.
So here’s a list of 22 ideas of where to find and how to create different types of content for your blog which will hopefully help alleviate the dreaded writer’s block forever. Enjoy!…
So you’re at a social gathering and the room is full of people you don’t know – what do you do? Perhaps introduce yourself or maybe even get to know someone else? Of course – that’s what happens in the real world. But with the recent boom of social media on the internet it seems that we are sometimes prone to forgetting some common social etiquette.
How many times have you clicked “accept friend request” on Facebook without even saying a word to the new friend? Apply this to the real world:
New Friend 1:“Will you be my friend?”
New Friend 2:“OK”
Now what value will either person gain out of that?…
A couple of days ago I was watching a video by Todd Falcone on one of the key ingredients of success. Basically he talked about the idea of following the path that’s already been laid out for you by others who have achieved the results you’re after. In other words, not getting sidetracked by feeling you have to reinvent the wheel.
This hit home for me as I know I’ve been caught in this position plenty of times in the past.
Look, I can an absolute pest when it comes to reinventing the wheel. I’ve spent so much time in different activities trying to come up with my own revolutionary approach to everything that I can completely lose focus on not only productivity and getting results, but truly understanding the fundamentals of what it is I’m doing…
